Beast on the road to recovery
Lottie (a.k.a. Beastly) spent some time with some friends when Jo was in hospital last week. 6 days ago she escaped from the house and tried to find her way back home across The Hague .... a feat that not even the protagonists in The Incredible Journey could have accomplished. Lottie had an altercation with a car and broke her pelvis in several places in addtion to suffering nerve damage which left her front left leg paralysed. She also went into shock. She was a bit "touch and go" (but mainly "go") for a while, which left us reeling after the great news of our baby daughter Sophie two days before. However she has made great progress in the past few days and is now using her front leg again. The vet thinks there will be a postive outcome but it will take a long time for her to recover. She will probably require surgery on her damaged leg joint. It's really fortunate that the Dutch love dogs. The driver of the car phoned for a pet ambulance (yes they have ambulances for pets), and Lottie was whisked to a 25 hour pet centre.
Anyway, here's a pic of Beastly (a.k.a. Lottie) just a couple of days after the accident. A few people have e-mailed asking for news (Lottie's fan club Ra Ra Ra!) so we'll post progress here.
