Sleep

We have had very little sleep this week. Every day Sophie has spent a few hours in the middle of the night making teeth and developing her lungs. Cute hat though.

Headline: Dog has bath

OK, it's parochial, but I like the idea that the internet allows the whole word to see our dog having a bath (if they want to).

Progress

Sophie is now getting more mobile and can crawl on hands and knees (a bit) and sit up. She's also interacting more with Lottie and has started teasing her more with her toys. Because she can't throw it yet Lottie, unfortunately, doesn't humour her (see pic). She's becoming more aware of people around her. Say "Where's Mummy?" and she looks at her mum. Sat "Where's Daddy?" and she looks at the dog. I guess its now clear what her favourite TV programme is. Im actually becoming a bit of a fan myself ...."Tubby Custard! Tubby Custard!".

Lottie sits this one out

Sophie and Emily had good fun playing together when Emily, Cathy and Alan dropped by on Saturday. Emily has a bit of a dog allergy so Lottie had to watch the fun through a glass door.

Webcam Grandma

We set the webcam up today and had a chat with Sophie's pixellated Grandma and Grandpa Lyons. At first I think Sophie thought she was watching the TV but then the lady reading the news started calling her name out and she soon grasped the idea that it was interactive. She was all smiles for them and her smile was even wider when Tinky Winky was placed next to the camera.

Can you do this with your eyes?

Team Talk

Up until now Sophie has been fairly ambivalent towards cuddly toys. They are always swiped out of the way as she squirminates towards a brick. However in the past few days she's started to show an interest (in a managerial kind of way).

Salade Nicoise

Increasingly Sophie is eating more grown up food. Last weekend in Cambridge she enjoyed going to Pizza Express and tucking into garlic bread and Pizza Fiorentina. Strangely though she hates being fed; she'd much rather it all came as finger food than via a spoon. Here's a picture of last night's dinner. Looks tasty, eh?

A bloggin' anniversary

I just realised that this blog is now over a year old. We've put 134 posts on the blog which surely elevates Sophie to "Most Photographed Baby" status. By comparison, I think there is only one photo of me before the age of 1 (and I posted that too). If you look at the little counter at the bottom you'll see it has had 7900 hits from 573 individuals. Sometimes someone from somewhere like Saudi Arabia has chanced upon it but there are only a handful of people who regularly drop in. I am also convinced that I am by far the biggest hitter and I'm sure my work computer IP address is the most common as I get my daily Sophie fix. We haven't posted much since Christmas as we haven't really done much. We went to Cambridge last weekend; it was nice to spend a weekend in our house (thanks Jason, Azure and Emelyn!), shop in the rain and catch up with friends. Here's a picture of Sophie about to dine at Chez Emmie. If you push the "Next Blog" button you'll see all sorts of blogs about people travelling to exotic places. If you stick with us we'll keep you up-to-date with news of our forthcoming trip to Center Parcs.

Fireworks

Here we all are standing in front of our Christmas card display. Sophie's Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for the week to experience the delight that is the Den Haag New Year celebration. We all enjoyed listening to the firecracker spectacular which went on for several days.
