Party Season

Sophie took Gemma to Clementine's 2nd birthday party on Sunday. She didn't want to sit still so we could get a decent picture of the lovely dress that Nana sent for her, but here are a few pictures of her escape. Next Sunday is Darcie's party so we'll try again!

Big Wheel 0 - Little Wheel 1

Everyone got a bit fed up on the big wheel because they were training up the new lad and he wasn't very good at stopping it to let us off. Sophie enjoyed the little wheel though and there wasn't even a queue for it!

Educational excursion to NL

Peter, Dee, Mike and Gemma are over from the UK for a visit. They've really crammed it in (Amsterdam, Delft, The Hague, Duinrell, Funky Fun Factory, Beach, Bosjes etc). The few seconds of this clip give you an idea of how much fun everyone's having and why Lottie doesn't need too much exercise at the moment.

Go Oranje!

Holland were knocked out of the Euro 2008 competition a few days ago. We shared the grief of the Dutch supporters.

I Bury Daddy

Today I took a day off work and we all went to the beach. You can see how the afternoon progressed from the photos. Sophie enjoyed digging ("I bury daddy") and Lottie discovered a fondness for being buried herself (see pic). It was a good bit of "brace-off" time for Sophie ... she's allowed 2 hours out of it each day and she's been putting plenty of time in the bank. The only down-side were the two "naughty boys" (Sophie's words) who cornered her in a wendy house and threw sand in her face. It didn't bother her too much though and she chatted about the naughty boys who put sand in her face until we put her to bed.

Goodbye monitor

The monitor on our computer has expired (smoke rose out from the back and it now refuses to work .... I'm not a technical person but I think that that is the end of that). This, allied to the fact that we haven't done much, means the blogs are a bit slow coming. Sophie is adapting well to life in her brace. It doesn't really stop her doing anything. She still likes to go swimming on Saturday mornings and play outside with the kids from next door. She also enjoys her daily ride in the bakfiets with Lottie. Sophie's jigsaw skills are also improving. She can happily do a 24-piece puzzle now. On the negative side she has developed a liking for watching "Dora the Explorer". We're also beginning to think about our move to Norway at the end of August, although topmost on my mind is the three weeks off work prior to this. We're all looking forward to a visit from Peter, Dee, Mike and Gemma in a couple of weeks time.
