Norway is bumpy and wet

Out and about today. We went for a walk and ended up by a lake with a jetty. It was great fun. Lottie had her "turbo" switch permanently turned on and Sophie enjoyed playing with Saskia. Unfortunately Saskia fell off the end of the jetty and Sophie bashed her bonce on a rock. It all ended OK. Saskia's dad fished her out and Sophie cheered up with a game of football (she likes to play in goals but don't dare call her a "goalie") and a hot dog.

Thanks Auntie Jean

Springtime? Birthday money burning a hole in your pocket? You need gardening equipment! Sophie really likes hers and spent ages happily planting seeds.

The second most silly bike in Norway

Today we woke the Bakfiets from hibernation and took it for a spin. Like everyone else here, we live up a hill, so it was a bit of a struggle getting back home. They don't go for silly bikes in Norway so plenty of heads turned and small children laughed. Strangely, we saw a man out exercising on a unicycle and we exchanged "we've got strange bikes" kinds of smiles. Then Sophie pointed at him and laughed.

Waiting for Spring

The weather has picked up here a bit and we're venturing outside a bit more. Sophie has settled in well at her nursery school. Strange to think that she has another life that we do not know much about. She doesn't tell us too much about what she's been up to but we get the odd snippet.

Circus

On Sunday I took Sophie to the circus. She enjoyed the acrobats and jugglers, was slightly bemused by the clowns, interested in the horse that could jump over camels (between the humps), confused by the extremely tall woman wrestling the diminutive man and bored by the man from Brazil who could dislocate appendages and fit through small hoops. She was pretty restless towards the end but a cubic foot of candy floss kept her interest until the elephants appeared at the end. Here she is waiting patiently (with Jack ... see previous post) for the show to start.

Sunday morning in suburbia

Sophie has seen too many hose-related comedy moments in cartoons. There were no bubbles left on me after this photo shoot.

Beasty's going to a dog hotel ...

... and we're going on a holiday!

Jack the rabbit

Last week Sophie started at Pre-School. She's booked in for five mornings per week and so far she seems to be enjoying it. She got to bring the Jack, the class's cuddly rabbit, home for the weekend. The idea is that each week a kid takes it home and writes in the book (by parental proxy) all about their adventures with a couple of pics. Jo has been trying to get a photo all weekend (see pic for the best one). Sophie isn't really into cuddly toys. Beasty is.

Holiday

OK not much posted here of late, what with holidays, business trips and the common cold. We had a nice-ish holiday in the UK at Centerparcs. Needless to say Sophie really enjoyed the swimming and is now getting quite adept at paddling and kicking, albeit with armbands. She didn't really enjoy the disco ... the lights on the floor were a bit scarey (and she's never even met a Mysteron).
