Sophie's holiday

We stayed in a nice house on the beach in a place called Beadnell.   Sophie spent many hours on the beach with her friend Dan.

One day we walked from Seahouses to Bamburgh to visit the castle.  It's a walk of at least 4km along the beach and we  scoured the rock pools (lots of starfish) and looked for fossils (Sophie found crinoids) and shells along the way.  She did really well with the walk which was the longest walk she's ever done.  She managed to get all the way to Bamburgh ....

Hammering

No kid's activity in Norway is complete unless there is the possibility of some hammering. We went to the Science Museum in Sandnes the other week. One of the displays was a block of wood for kids to bang nails into. Top attraction at the Stavanger Children's museum? Block of wood to bang nails into. Here's Sophie making a tea tray at the company Christmas party. Actually, she made a pretty good attempt.

Christmas 2010

OK, OK ... we've been a bit slow loading these up. Can you feel the anticipation as Matthew is about to open his first ever Christmas present? Fortunately his big sister was (more than) willing to lend a helping hand.

The Brick Seller's Wife

Sophie has just landed a part in the upcoming class play, The 3 Little Pigs. She's playing the Brick Seller's Wife (... it's a big class).

Eating and Relaxing

Matthew has just recovered from a rather nasty chest infection and is already into his next cold. Both Sophie and Matthew seem have had what seems like a constant stream of colds this winter. Other than that Matthew is making good progress. He's crawling, has grown a tooth and is turning into a bit of a chatterbox. Here he is reading a book and feeding himself.

Waiting for Spring to Spring

It has been a long, long winter here in Norway and, although the daylight hours are beginning to grow, we still haven't had much sign of Spring. Consequently we've spent a lot of time indoors trying to amuse ourselves. Here's Sophie having a hat party (... only Beastie wanted to come) and also wearing a Road Sweeper costume she made after seeing one of those vehicles with the little brushes on her way to school.
